Blog what?

Okay. These first couple of initial postings have turned out way too "play-by-play" style for my taste. I think I want to turn toward a more reflective mode - more of a "thinking-out-loud" style maybe? The day in the life recaps will not be omitted entirely; they have their place.

So it goes...

Good Ole Summertime...

Wow! 12 days on the road -- now in the books. It was an enjoyable trip. Clinton, Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee to Cincinnati, Ohio to Louisville, Ohio to Ann Arbor, Michigan to Grand Rapids, Michigan to Henderson, Kentucky and back to Clinton, Mississippi. We visited family and friends, as well as met face-to-face two individuals [...different cities...] we had only known online previously. We stayed in several motels along the way, greatly pleasing the kids. We got to tour Eastern Ohio Almish Country [complete with brother-in-law guide]. We were able to frolick on the beach and swim in Lake Michigan [...Grand Haven, Michigan...] for the first time -- July 3rd the water temperature was 53 degrees!

Thanks to Tammy, Brian, Kelly, Steve, & families, for being such wonderful hosts. Also, thanks to Julie and Dave for totally exceeding expectations... :-)

Now its back to the grind. And of course, starting to think about where we would like to go next! :-)

Two Words For CBS' Les Moonves: "Skew you!"

Joan: You are not real!
God: So people keep telling me.

And the ripples spread from boat, to pond, to sea, to sky... and nothing can stop them...nothing ever will.

Why, CBS?

Why on earth, with the never-ending increase of crap that's on the air nowadays, would you cancel a show that, on so many fronts, rivals anything ever before seen on television?

I, along with the rest of my family, really loved this show. We are most unhappy with your decision. We heard the March rumors of trouble, but quickly interpreted them as merely hype; some kind of network marketing ploy as we neared season's end; certainly not to be taken seriously; not in this case; not the emmy-track, award-winning, critically acclaimed, and totally unique Joan Of Arcadia! We were sure we'd be watching this one for 6-7 years, minimum.

Oh well, how wrong we were...

I don't know what little old, invisible, unimportant us could do or say that would get the attention of the movers-and-shakers of the television entertainment industry, but we surely must do or say something. I did something I had never done before -- I became actively involved in the fight to save a TV show, to resurrect it. As a result, I learned a couple [...or three...] things:

(1) This kind of thing has happened before;
(2) The television Ratings system needs serious attention;
(3) Network executives seem to be grossly naive about the population they purport to serve;

Our resurrection effort, at least as of today, has not proven to be successful. But it has proven something else. A group people, unknown to one another prior to the Les 'Skew'ves cancellation, discovered a shared cause. And that cause is evolving into something bigger. It remains to be seen precisely what form it will eventually take, but there is no question that, in the future, when quality programming that appeals to a widely diverse demographic bursts onto the scene, something will be said; something will be done; to insure its survival.

Testing spot...

Hi. This is a maiden blogging venture, so I am playing around with things until I get a chance to compose a real live introductory posting.
